Senior Backend Engineer | Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, Microservices, Event Driven | Hyderabad | Work From Office | Full Time
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Core Streaming Backend Services team of a large scale OTT platform, based in Hyderabad. You will design, build and maintain backend microservices on Node.js, TypeScript and AWS with full end to end ownership, and contribute to scalable, resilient, high performance systems that serve streaming across multiple markets. The team works event driven, ships continuously, and expects engineers to own what they build rather than hand it over.
POSITION SNAPSHOT
• Role: Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Core Streaming Backend Services)

• Compensation: INR 25 to 40 LPA
• Industry: OTT, video streaming and high scale consumer internet
• Notice period: Immediate to 60 days preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend microservices using Node.js, TypeScript and AWS, with end to end ownership
• Write clean, maintainable and testable code following engineering best practices
• Drive and take part in design discussions, design reviews and code reviews
• Apply event driven architecture and microservices patterns to real production problems
• Build and maintain integrations with AWS services and third party systems
• Keep backend services resilient, performant, secure and scalable across multiple regions
• Work with DevOps and SRE teams on deployments, monitoring and infrastructure automation
• Apply solid data structures, algorithms and design patterns to complex problems
• Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders on product and technical goals
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
• 4 to 8 years of hands on backend development in product driven environments
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript and JavaScript
• Strong expertise in event driven architecture and microservices
• Solid understanding of software design patterns, data structures and algorithms
• Hands on experience building and scaling distributed, event driven systems
• Containerisation with Docker and orchestration with ECS or Kubernetes
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions or equivalent
• Terraform or a similar Infrastructure as Code tool
• SQL such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, NoSQL such as DynamoDB or MongoDB, and caching with Redis
• AWS services including SQS, SNS, ECS, S3, Lambda, Route 53, DynamoDB and Kafka
• Observability tooling such as CloudWatch, Grafana or equivalent
• Writing unit and integration tests, and working with test frameworks
• API documentation tools such as Swagger
• Agile and Scrum team experience
AI ASSISTED ENGINEERING
This team expects working fluency with AI coding assistants, not curiosity about them.
• Day to day use of GitHub Copilot, Claude or equivalent in real development workflows
• Ability to write effective prompts for code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation and documentation
• Strong judgment when reviewing AI generated code: spotting hallucinations, security vulnerabilities, logic errors and architectural misalignment before anything is merged
• Familiarity with agentic and multi step development workflows to automate repetitive engineering work such as scaffolding, boilerplate and test coverage
• A clear view of the limits, risks and responsible use of AI tools in a production environment
PREFERRED / BONUS SKILLS
• OTT, video streaming or high traffic consumer platform experience
• Multi region architecture and failover design
• Performance profiling and cost optimisation on AWS

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering or an equivalent discipline (minimum requirement)
