Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Unit Head to lead the end-to-end operations of our Faridabad manufacturing unit, which specializes in tubular components for leading tractor and agricultural / construction equipment OEMs. This is a niche, technology-driven manufacturing space with very few qualified competitors, presenting strong growth potential.
The incumbent will be a hands-on plant leader with a strong technical foundation, customer-facing maturity, and full P&L ownership of the unit — covering production, quality, customer relationships, cost, people, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Production Management
•Lead the entire Faridabad plant — production planning, manufacturing, maintenance, supply chain, quality, stores, and dispatch.
•Ensure achievement of monthly / annual production targets with optimal utilization of machinery, manpower, and material.
•Drive productivity, OEE improvement, cycle-time reduction, and cost optimization across all shop floors.
•Oversee tube fabrication, bending, welding, machining, and allied processes specific to tubular component manufacturing.
Customer Relationship Management
•Serve as the primary technical point of contact for OEM customers — Kubota, CNH Industrial, ITL (Sonalika), and JCB.
•Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customer SQA, purchase, R&D, and plant teams.
•Lead customer audits, plant visits, technical discussions, new product development (NPD) reviews, and PPAP / APQP submissions.
•Resolve customer complaints with rigorous 8D / CAPA discipline; prevent recurrence.
Quality & Compliance
•Maintain and continuously improve the quality management system (IATF 16949 / ISO 9001) and customer-specific requirements.
•Drive zero-defect culture; ensure compliance with PPM targets, in-process rejection limits, and warranty norms.
•Ensure adherence to all statutory, EHS, factory act, labour, pollution, and safety regulations.
Business, Costing & Strategy
•Own the unit P&L — manufacturing cost, conversion cost, scrap, rework, and overheads.
•Prepare annual budgets, capex proposals, and manpower plans; track variance and corrective actions.
•Identify and execute opportunities for new business, capacity expansion, localisation, and import substitution.
•Drive cost reduction projects, VA/VE, and supplier development initiatives.
People & Leadership
•Build, mentor and lead a multi-functional team across production, quality, maintenance, PPC, and HR/IR.
•Maintain healthy industrial relations, contractor management, and a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor.
•Promote a continuous improvement mindset — Lean, Kaizen, TPM, 5S, Six Sigma.
Candidate Profile
Education
•B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering (mandatory).
•MBA / PGDM in Operations is a plus, but not required.
Experience
•15+ years in auto-component / engineering manufacturing, of which at least 5 years in a Plant Head, Unit Head, or Works Manager role.
•Strong, demonstrable experience in tubular components, tube fabrication, bending, welding, or sheet-metal / fabrication-led manufacturing.
•Direct exposure to tractor / off-highway / agri-equipment OEM supply — Kubota, CNH, ITL, M&M, John Deere, Escorts, JCB, TAFE, or equivalent.
•Proven track record managing IATF / ISO certified plants of comparable size.
Skills & Competencies
•Strong technical grounding in welding, fabrication, fixturing, jigs, and tubular manufacturing processes.
•Hands-on with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S.
•Sound understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving.
•P&L orientation with strong analytical and cost-control capability.
•Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer-facing skills.
•Mature leadership presence; able to command respect on the shop floor and credibility in the boardroom.
