Associate Professor / Professor – Mechanical Engineering | PhD | HoD Track | Bengaluru | Full Time, On Campus
A leading multi-campus university is hiring senior faculty – Associate Professor and Professor – for its Department of Mechanical Engineering at its Bengaluru campus. This is a senior academic leadership role: the selected candidate is expected to take over as Head of Department (HoD) within about 1-2 years of joining. We are looking for a PhD holder with strong teaching, research, academic administration and leadership experience from a reputed engineering college or university.

• Qualification: PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline (mandatory)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach undergraduate (B.E. / B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.Tech) courses in core and elective subjects such as Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, Manufacturing Processes, Theory of Machines, CAD / CAM
• Design and update curriculum in line with industry needs, outcome-based education (OBE) and NEP 2020
• Lead funded research, publish in Scopus / SCI / Web of Science indexed journals and reputed conferences, and file patents
• Supervise M.Tech projects and PhD research scholars
• Take on academic administration: timetable, course allocation, examinations, NBA / NAAC / NIRF accreditation and ranking documentation
• Mentor junior faculty and build a high-performing, collaborative department team
• Build industry partnerships, consultancy projects, MoUs, internships and placement support for students
• Prepare to lead the department as HoD – strategy, budgets, faculty development and quality assurance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline – mandatory
• B.E. / B.Tech and M.E. / M.Tech with first class in the relevant discipline
• 8+ years of teaching and research experience for Associate Professor; 10+ years for Professor, as per AICTE / UGC norms
• Teaching experience at a reputed engineering college or university
• Proven academic administration experience (department coordination, accreditation, examinations, committees)
• Leadership experience – HoD, deputy HoD, programme coordinator, research centre or committee lead
• Strong research record: indexed publications, funded projects, patents and PhD guidance
PREFERRED RESEARCH AREAS
• Advanced manufacturing and additive manufacturing, thermal and energy systems, robotics and automation, materials and composites, Industry 4.0, EV and sustainable engineering
SOFT SKILLS
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
• Team player who builds consensus across faculty, students and leadership
• Student-centric teaching approach and strong mentoring ability
• Planning, people management and decision-making skills suited to an HoD role
TOOLS AND PLATFORMS
• AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, ANSYS, MATLAB, CNC / CAM software, LMS and plagiarism tools
