The Academic Director is responsible for designing, managing, and enhancing the academic vision, strategy, and operations of the eLearning company. This role involves overseeing curriculum development, ensuring the quality of learning content, managing academic teams, and aligning educational offerings with industry trends and learner needs. The Academic Director will collaborate with various departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality and engaging learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Develop and execute the company’s academic strategy to align with its overall goals.
Stay updated on eLearning trends, instructional design methodologies, and industry requirements to drive innovation.
Provide leadership to academic teams, including content developers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and instructional designers.
Curriculum and Content Development
Oversee the design, development, and revision of online courses, programs, and learning paths.
Ensure that curricula are aligned with accreditation standards, certification requirements, and learner goals.
Maintain academic rigor while fostering creativity and learner engagement.
Quality Assurance
Establish and monitor quality benchmarks for academic content and delivery.
Evaluate course effectiveness through learner feedback, performance metrics, and industry feedback.
Ensure compliance with national and international education standards and frameworks.
Team Management
Recruit, train, and manage academic staff, including faculty, content creators, and instructional designers.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the academic team.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and professional development initiatives for the team.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with marketing, product, and technology teams to ensure alignment of academic offerings with market demands and technical capabilities.
Engage with external stakeholders, including industry leaders, educational institutions, and accreditation bodies, to strengthen academic partnerships.
Learner-Centered Focus
Drive initiatives to enhance learner experience, including personalized learning strategies and adaptive technologies.
Analyze learner outcomes and feedback to inform future improvements.
Compliance and Accreditation
Ensure that all programs meet regulatory, accreditation, and licensing standards where applicable.
Manage documentation and reporting related to academic standards and compliance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Education, Curriculum Design, eLearning, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within an academic, eLearning, or EdTech organization.
Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, eLearning platforms, and emerging educational technologies.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Experience with accreditation processes, quality assurance, and compliance in education.
Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform decision-making.
Familiarity with diverse learning styles, accessibility standards, and inclusivity in education.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in creating competency-based learning programs.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and authoring tools.
Expertise in emerging trends such as AI in education, gamification, and microlearning.
Work Environment:
This role may be remote or hybrid, depending on the company’s operational structure. The Academic Director will collaborate with global teams and may occasionally travel for meetings, conferences, or partnerships.
