Job Title: Dean – School of Law
Location: Banaglore
Reports To: Vice Chancellor / Provost
Employment Type: Full-time, Senior Leadership Position
Position Summary
The Dean of the School of Law serves as the chief academic and administrative officer for the school. This role requires visionary leadership to advance the school’s reputation in legal education, research, and community engagement. The Dean will lead initiatives to shape the future of legal education, foster partnerships, and ensure the success of faculty, students, and alumni.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the school’s strategic vision and goals in alignment with the university’s mission.
Promote a forward-thinking approach to legal education by integrating traditional and emerging areas of law.
Drive initiatives to position the law school as a leader in academic excellence and research innovation.
Academic Administration
Oversee curriculum development and ensure programs meet academic and accreditation standards.
Promote interdisciplinary approaches by collaborating with other schools and departments.
Foster an environment of academic excellence and innovation among faculty and students.
Faculty and Staff Development
Recruit, mentor, and retain high-caliber faculty and staff to strengthen teaching and research.
Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty, including research and teaching enhancements.
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the faculty and staff.
Student Success and Engagement
Ensure a supportive learning environment that encourages academic and professional growth.
Oversee the implementation of programs that enhance student experience, including moot courts, internships, and legal clinics.
Advocate for students’ academic and career development through mentorship and opportunities for professional networking.
Research and Scholarship
Promote a culture of research excellence, supporting faculty and students in their scholarly endeavors.
Secure funding for research through grants, partnerships, and collaborations with government and industry.
Represent the school’s research contributions at national and international forums.
Community and Industry Engagement
Build relationships with the legal community, including law firms, judiciary, government agencies, and NGOs.
Foster partnerships for internships, placement, and collaborative initiatives.
Organize events such as conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance the school’s visibility and influence.
Operational and Financial Management
Manage the school’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability and effective allocation of resources.
Oversee administrative functions, including compliance with academic and regulatory requirements.
Drive initiatives to grow enrollment while maintaining academic standards.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Law or equivalent academic qualifications.
Master of Laws (LL.M.) with substantial leadership experience may be considered.
Experience
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in academia, including leadership roles such as Associate Dean, Head of Department, or similar.
A strong portfolio of scholarly research, publications, and contributions to legal education.
Demonstrated ability to engage with the legal profession and influence public discourse.
