Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant with 15-20 years of experience in the
manufacturing industry to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive
knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial analysis in a
manufacturing environment. This individual will play a crucial role in providing strategic
insights and improving cost management processes to support the company’s financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Analysis & Reporting:
o Oversee the preparation and analysis of cost reports, providing detailed
insights into cost structures and variances for production, labor, materials, and
overhead.
o Evaluate and analyze the cost of goods sold (COGS) and suggest
improvements in cost efficiency and profitability.
o Ensure accurate cost allocation to products, ensuring cost accounting
processes align with manufacturing activities.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
o Lead the annual budgeting process for manufacturing costs, working closely
with production and operations teams.
o Assist in forecasting production costs, reviewing trends, and identifying
potential risks and opportunities.
- Inventory Management & Valuation:
o Oversee inventory valuation methodologies and manage inventory costing
(e.g., standard vs. actual costing).
o Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliation of stock discrepancies.
- Process Improvement:
o Identify and implement cost control initiatives to improve efficiency and
reduce unnecessary expenses.
o Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Supply Chain,
Procurement) to improve cost tracking and reporting accuracy.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant
regulations.
o Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial
assets and data.
- Collaboration & Leadership:
o Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management on cost
reduction opportunities and profitability improvements.
o Mentor and guide junior accounting staff and ensure accurate and timely
reporting of financial information.
Qualifications:
- Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree
or CPA preferred).
- Experience:
o 15-20 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or
production environment.
o Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost structures, and
inventory management.
- Technical Skills:
o Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft
Excel).
o Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and data analysis.
- Skills & Competencies:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
o Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with senior
management and cross-functional teams.
o Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing cost accounting teams.
- Experience in implementing and optimizing cost accounting systems or tools.rocess
